random thoughts

I spent most of the day cleaning, I feel good about it even though I know it won't last
I think I want to start growing my hair out, try something a little different.
I need more sleep.
Thinking about my 9 boxes of girl scout cookies coming soon makes me happy.
I love walking into the living room and seeing the new decorations that I just bought.
Soon I am going to start painting the kitchen, both living rooms, up the stairs and down the hall, how does the colors Of the Earth and Pinecone Hill sound?
Amanda and I were sitting in front of the school waiting on the kids when we watched a mother and her son walking towards the school. The boy starts throwing up, three times in all, but they don't stop they keep walking... so it goes like this, walk, throw up, walk, throw up, walk, throw up. We couldn't figure out what she was thinking? Soon the janitor came out to clean it up and started coughing possibly gagging and we were just praying that he didn't start throwing up too.
Even though I was wanting a new camera I wasn't thinking that it was going to happen for awhile. That is until I sent mine in to get fixed and the company lost my camera so they refunded my money and now I am getting that new one after all.
I'm tired of the kids yelling and screaming "MOM" instead of coming to find me, so I quit answering them.
I have been thinking about our family vacation this summer to Yellowstone, it will be the first time for all of us.
Most mornings we ask Ryan if he has a tail because he usually put his pants on backwards and the drawstrings are hanging down in the back.
With snow this week I am still waiting for summer.
Just a few random thoughts from my day...

Monday already?

The days and weeks are just going by too fast.
I don't feel like I'm getting anything done.
The house, my projects, my family.
I need more time.
I need to stop procrastinating, I never realized that I had that problem, but I think I do.
Hopefully today will be the day!

The kids are feeling better.
We enjoyed the sunshine this past week.
Walks to school with the neighbors to pick up the kids have been fun, some much needed fresh air, not to mention exercise was so good for us.
The kids each had a special day at school last week, Cody a pizza party in his class, Luke celebrating 50 days of being in school and for Ryan it was letter R week at school. This kid has been waiting for this week all year long, he was beyond excited! He thought the day was going to be all about him so I had to warn the teacher, but he had a great time enjoyed every minute of it.
I'm officially done with winter and so READY for spring.
Amanda and I were at Target this weekend and I couldn't believe that the Easter stuff is out everywhere. Not for sure that I am ready to start thinking about that yet, along with the birthday's that means will be coming up, how can February be almost over?
Sunday we went to church and it was good, we need to do this more often. Of course we had to bring a little attention to ourselves when Luke lost his bouncy ball and it rolled in front of the altar and Ryan asking loudly when the room was completely silent, "Mom, now we done?"
We also had a girls day with my mom, sister, sister in law, and nieces and went out to the movie. Some of us had read the book Dear John so thought it would be a good chick flick to see, it was a disappointing movie if you had read the book, we still had fun though. Afterwards mom treated us to a nice lunch and we shared in some good laughs with each other.

Off to get some work done, have a good week!

the long weekend

With the kids being out of school Thursday, Friday and Monday I was really looking forward to the long weekend, some time just to hang out and do whatever. It didn't turn out quite like I was hoping, Luke woke up with the flu Friday morning, Ryan was at the doctors Saturday morning with an ear infection, just took Cody and Luke to the doctors this morning and they both have ear infections too. Ugh!
It wasn't a total loss though we did enjoy a really nice family day together on Valentines Day. The kids woke up excited to see the table all decorated for Valentines with candies and their own Alvin and the Chipmunks stuffed animal (Cody-Simon, Luke-Alvin and Ryan-Theodore). They also got the Alvin and the Chipmunks CD which they spent a lot of time dancing to in their bedroom, no parents allowed. After a nice breakfast we headed to town and the kids got to spend their Valentine's money from Grammy and Papa. The kids enjoyed the afternoon playing and building with their new toys until their cousins arrived. The plan was to have Hailey and Tucker come over to watch the boys while Heath and I went out to dinner and a movie. We changed plans though, the kids still came over, Heath made his dad's chicken soup for dinner instead, I made a cheesecake for dessert and we spent the evening playing basketball with friends at the school playground. Has it really been 17 years since I played basketball in high school? The day was a success though just being with the ones that we love!

Luke had a loose tooth that was needing to come out for awhile now, since way before his birthday.

He babied it like crazy, it's only his second one.

I had Amanda take a look at it yesterday and she told Luke she would try and pull it.

Pulling teeth is just not my thing.

He was okay with it and just stood there frozen while she tried and tried.

Abigail even took a turn at it too.

The tooth was so little that it was hard to get a hold of not to mention that he kept his lip pulled up tight protecting it.

Amanda did mention to him that you would get more money from the tooth fairy if you had a friend pull it.

Isn't she sweet.

With that new incentive he stayed standing still while she tried some more and then

finally that little tooth was pulled.

Luke had a few mixed emotions, first shock, then maybe excitement because we were all clapping and cheering for him and then the crying started.

Poor thing, I sat down with him and asked him what was wrong and he just said that he missed his tooth!

Later that night he told me that it was his favorite tooth because it was like a dog's tooth, sharp and pointed and he missed it.

What a brave boy he was!

He was happy to put the tooth under his pillow though and left a note and drawing for the tooth fairy.

He was even more happy this morning when he found his four dollars and the fairy dust left behind knowing that she had really been there.

So even though this looks a little like torture

he was so brave

and strong

It's finally out!

Who knew that's what friends were for!

McCall

We had a wonderful time in McCall.

The snow covered mountains, the sunshine, and the crisp air was so refreshing.

It was quick trip but we still managed to pack in a lot of fun and some new memories.

Besides forgetting a few things like a brush and long johns for me and gloves for Heath, my old camera not keeping a charge, a little whining from the boys when we first started walking through town and them managing to jump in every puddle there was, the trip was a success.

What we want to remember:

The kids loving every thing there is about a hotel room. Ryan loved the light switches, Luke loved the rolling desk chair which he insisted would be his bed for the night-it didn't happen, Cody loved the TV guide to read what was on all the channels and they all loved the key card to open and close the door

Going out to dinner at Si Buenos, the kids invented a new favorite, french fries dipped in salsa. Heath reminded me something I had forgotten all about, we had eaten here on one of his first visits to Idaho. We drove up in my grandparents car with my parents and brother to show Heath a little of Idaho, ate some dinner and drove back home. A funny story about that, the heated leather seat was turned on only where Heath was sitting in the car and he was just sweating to death but sat in silence and didn't say anything.

Swimming in the hotel pool. I stayed in the jacuzzi with Ryan going back and forth from the steps in the pool to the steps in the jacuzzi. Heath and the big boys played in the pool a lot. The boys really had a great time, for two hours they played in the water, jumped off the sides doing tricks and splashed around.

so over it

This week hasn't been horrible but it really hasn't been great either.
I am so over the tantrums, whining and fits,
the grumpy kids and the moody mom.
I just want a little sleep and whole lot less drama.
Tomorrow we are heading to McCall for the Winter Carnival.
Heath and the boys have never been and it's been a long time for me.
The weekend away, fresh air, and time together will hopefully be good for us.
I need to snap out of this mood and get excited about this little get-away,
let loose and have some fun.
This dirty house, stacks of laundry and the to do list will all be waiting for me when I return.
A happy family we will be!

Wild Thing

That is the only way to describe Luke at his birthday party this weekend.
He was a wild thing, an annoying wild thing at that.
Luke invited 6 friends to celebrate with, some old and some new.
Of course it was a Bionicle themed party.
The party started with the kids building their own bionicle creation, sharing them and then having them voted on by the kids.
We then played a little bionicle bingo.
Opened presents.
Sang Happy Birthday and had cupcakes and icecream!
Luke loved every minute of it!
