it really happened...

So last night I headed out to Caldwell without my husband and children
to watch Tucker's district championship basketball game with the rest of the family.
It was too late for the kids to be out and they wouldn't of done well with
the huge crowd and close seating.
The Melba Mustangs didn't win but they will go on to State, so that is exciting!
I think it must be me though because every game that I've gone to they end up losing!
Okay so the best part of the evening was when I was at the snack bar (I love nachos)
and I asked the student behind the counter how much it would cost to get into the game
and he told me,
"It's five dollars if you are from out of town but if you brought your student activity
card it's only three dollars."
What?
Did he possibly think that I could be a student?
Do I look younger without three kids wrestling around and hanging off of me?
Was he blind?
Was he just being nice?
Well whatever it was, I'm gonna take it.
Bless that sweet boy!

memory lane

Monday the boys and I spent the day with my parents.

playing games-going out for lunch-taking a walk-hanging out

We also looked through old pictures on the computer.

Pictures that I don't have digital copies of because I used to throw away the cd's
once I had my pictures developed (gasp). I can't believe that I ever did that.
Thankfully now though I have them back.
I love looking at old pictures and how they take you back to that time and place in life.

five stars

Last night the boys had a slumber party and slept downstairs

and first thing this morning they came up with a plan and went right to work.

Of course we knew this was going on because we could hear them talking away

and they came in to tell us that we were not allowed to leave our room until they were done.

I have never eaten in a five star restaurant but I have a feeling this is what it must be like.

Once everything was in place and ready we left our room to come downstairs.

The stairs were covered in comforters and blankets and called, "the stairs of comfort"

so every step we took was cushioned and soft.

Once downstairs we were greeted by our Italian waiter Cody with a pencil thin mustache.

He was in charge of making the oatmeal and strawberry and chocolate milk.

Our waiter Luke had many duties:

He first started by cleaning the kitchen and then worked hard at designing the menu's.

Lastly he was in charge of making his all time favorite food, bacon.

He later decided that the price of bacon should go up, so it is now 8 cents a slice.

Waiter Cody decided that we should have a choice of some of our favorite

games to play at the table for when we were finished.

And lastly our waiter Ryan was in charge of putting the jelly on our toast

and you can see how hard he worked.

It was a breakfast for champions for sure!

{simple} things

Our weekend was simple but so enjoyable {a few of the simple things that we enjoyed}
A family movie night watching the A-Team {the kids asked question after question, kind of hard to watch a movie that way}
A game of flag football with the girls {lots of tackling, crying & laughing}
Two bike rides up to the school with the girls {the fresh air & exercise was so refreshing. the most memorable moment was seeing Ash chase a screaming Ryan across the playground trying to plant a kiss on him and then having Ryan turn around and chase a screaming Ash because he said he was going to wipe snot on her face}.
Working on the valentines with the boys {it was our first time making homemade valentines...and I didn't even come up with the idea I stole it from Amanda}
Helping Luke decorate his valentine box for school {valentine's is a challenging holiday for me...they don't make a lot of boy things, everything is pink and covered in hearts}
Taking care of my parents dog Daisy while they are on vacation {we can't figure out if Ruby likes having the company or is a little jealous. Daisy is 14 so the boys say she is Ruby's grandma}
Doing very little housework {but lots of reading time for me}
Yelling at Ryan to get his fingers out of his mouth {this is a new habit and it's disgusting, he is constantly sucking on his fingers or licking his hands}
Clipping coupons while Heath watched the super bowl and the kids wrestled and played {then we all enjoyed the half time show together}
Luke reading a book on his own and seeing how proud he was {we borrowed a Dick and Jane book from the girls and now Luke wants more of them}
Hearing the boys work together to make a surprise breakfast for Heath and I {we came downstairs to a glass of milk, toast with grape jelly for Heath, strawberry for me and a cookie (no worries that's not a typical breakfast food for us) and an episode of According to Jim on the tv for us to watch.}
Cody winning the whole video game of Call of Duty Black Ops {sadly we have plenty more for him to work on beating}
Going to church together {it was a very peaceful morning getting out of the house with no complaining}
What {simple} things did you enjoy?

motivation

Motivation is what I am lacking right now but I need some.
I gave myself a break during January. Coming off the holidays, jumping right into birthday planning and enjoying the other family activities we were doing was all that I could think of and that was okay.
But it's time now.
I need to start my Pilate's again. I only have four months until I will be in a swimsuit daily down at the pool.
I need to start really cooking again, I've just been getting by lately and nobody's happy come dinnertime.
I need to find a good balance to get some of my projects done and still spend quality time with the family.
I need to get out of this mood that I'm in and just get motivated.
Life is good.

and Ryan telling me this morning (when he walked in on me bent over while getting dressed) "Mom, why is your bum all wiggly?" should be all the motivation I need.

the ultimate class

Cody's dream came true today.

An educational class where you get to learn about Simple and Motorized Mechanisms using LEGOS. Cody couldn't believe that there was such a class available (I didn't know either until my sister had shared a flyer she had seen with me), the boy was beyond excited!

He couldn't wait for today where he would get to LEARN using LEGOS (his two favorite things he said) and be surrounded by other kids who shared his same obsession, he knew they would have so much to talk about. His first class was a success and he was all smiles, he's looking forward to the next three weeks!
