Double Digits
The big ONE ZERO.
His new goal is to reach the triple digits but he has a little ways to go.
It was so fun celebrating Cody today.
What a special kid he is, Heath and I feel so blessed to be his parents.
He is so easy going.
He wanted Denny's for his birthday dinner
(a macaroni and cheese hamburger just like he had in Seattle
but they were no longer selling them, bummer it was a bacon burger instead).
He also made his own birthday cake this year per his request but he let me frost it.
We celebrated at my parents house with the whole family.
We also celebrated this little girl who is turning sweet sixteen in three days.
It was pizza and cake
presents and Just Dance
laughing and drawing Christmas names
taking naps and building Legos
reading and watching football
and being together with the family.
We couldn't of asked for a better day!

random things
Just a few bits of randomness that I may want to remember {someday}.
Ryan and I were looking through Cody's photo album and we came across pictures from some of his early birthday parties. Ryan then wanted to look at some of his old birthday pictures so he got his photo album out. Well the guilt set in when he realized that his album didn't even go up to his FIRST birthday party so he said to me very sadly, "You didn't want to take any pictures of my birthday parties?" I guess I better move that project up to the top of my list.
Luke is always full of comments, not always nice or appropriate ones but comments none the less. When I was making him read to me when he didn't want to be reading he said to me, "Reading is even worser than your dinners!" Then when I was giving the boys a lecture and demonstration on how to use the bathroom because I'm tired of cleaning pee off the walls Luke said, "Well sometimes I have to wrestle it like it's a horse". I didn't ask for anymore of an explanation.
Cody always makes me laugh on the randomness of the facts that he knows, he teaches me something new everyday:
When asking him to get me a band aid he explained to me how band aids were invented.
When talking with Ryan about his homework on 9-1-1 Cody informed me what England's emergency number was.
When cooking baked potatoes in the crock pot (great idea by the way) he informed me how you can make a potato cook faster.
Amanda and the girls surprised us with a plate of Halloween sugar cookies. I love her sugar cookies they are simply the best. I can't eat just one at a time it's more like five so that explains the headaches I would get each day. We hope to pay it forward with some treat delivering of our own.
A conversation with Ryan when we were cleaning his room:
Ryan: What is on my bed?
Me: I don't know but it looks like throw up.
Ryan: Oh yeah I just remembered I frowed up last night.
Me: Why didn't you wake mommy up and I would of helped you?
Ryan: I just wiped my face off with the blanket and went back to sleep.
Loose crickets in the house are becoming less of a big deal around here now that we are up to eight or nine.
Granted I hope that's the real number and just not the ones we have happened to see because I am really not fond of crickets. Not only are they gross but they are expensive little fellas too, we spend more on crickets to feed the gecko than we do on dog food to feed Ruby. I guess we should of done our research before we bought a new pet.
I guess like dogs who start to look like their owners over time the same should be said of great friends. Amanda and I have people ask us all the time if we are sisters, this happened again just the other day at the school. Since the boys and girls are always together the librarian thought that they were cousins and that I was the aunt to the girls, we even have a poor mom confused at the school because she always asks me how Abigail is doing, it just makes us laugh and we take it as a compliment, (right Amanda?).
I asked Ryan how it was when Amanda was helping out in their class the other day and he told me, "It was like a miracle." I wonder if he will say the same thing when I get to help out this week in his class?
The boys are all into robots these days after seeing the movie Real Steel last week with my sisters family. They loved the movie and have been re-enacting the fighting scenes constantly. It's funny to hear Ryan running around saying, One.. Two.. Uppercut..
Amanda and I took pictures of the kids this week because for a very short time each year they are all a different age in order and we have a five, six, seven, eight and nine year old. We wish we would of been taking these pictures all along but who knew they would of turned out to be this good of friends. Anyways just a fun little memory of the fabulous five.

Thursday
Some of the family braved the cold and the rain to watch Tucker play football.
It was Melba's homecoming.
Tucker was also one of the nominees for king, but sadly he didn't win.
He seemed a little nervous and embarrassed in front of everyone,
I hope it wasn't because of this...

Who knew rain ponchos were so popular and flattering, ha!
I think the family knows by now I mostly go to the football games to socialize, I love supporting the kids in everything but I just don't seem to have the concentration it takes to watch a football game.
It was such a good time laughing and joking around with the family.
This fuddy duddy doesn't join in though, he likes to watch the whole game and probably finds us a little annoying but we still love him.

Friday
With the boys out of school for a few days that meant I had to brave grocery shopping with all of them again, oh how I love the days of going by myself. We survived the errands, lunch and shopping together and even managed to get a halloween costume too (even though it already needs fixed by Grammy). That night we headed out to the hockey game even though pajamas and the warm house were sounding so much better. We ended up having a great time together, laughing hysterically at the audience being shown on the big screen for the Kissing Cam, Air Guitar and Dancing segments and watching the boys getting into the game (especially the fights). I am just so happy that we got out and didn't miss in all that fun.
Saturday
We headed to Luke's last game (or so we thought-turns out he has one more next weekend). Finally this group of boys is getting the game figured out and you can see them working together. If Luke could just fight and defend the other team like he does so passionately with his brothers there would be no stopping this kid.
After the game we headed home, curled up in the living room together and watched Transformers 3.
The boys have been wanting to see it ever since the movie first came out so finally it was time. Besides the language it didn't disappoint and was full of action, fighting and cool transformers so the boys loved it.
After that we headed to the pumpkin patch (along with everyone else in the surrounding area) but had the most wonderful weather so we couldn't complain (too much).
It was
corn maze-chili fries-nachos-fried donuts-pumpkin slinging-animal petting
hay bale climbing-tractor riding-broken down tractor-through the corn maze again
sno cones-corn dogs-picture taking fun time!
someone always has to be the comedian...
In just six more years this kid will be driving, probably not a tractor but still I can't believe it.
Sunday
We headed to church where the boys have been enjoying their religious ed classes and meeting new friends, so that makes for less complaining in the mornings which really makes for a better day. After church we ate lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon outside washing vehicles, mowing, cleaning the garage and doing yard work. It was another day of the most perfect weather!
Monday
Now today we have to play catch up with our cleaning, laundry and homework after the last four days so we can be ready to start our week off good tomorrow.

the trip of a lifetime
for a soon to be 10 year old boy!
I love how enthusiastic Cody can be about things that he loves.
This boy loved it all...
going on a trip with just him and his dad
getting to do things by dad's rules like ordering pop with your breakfast
telling me how he celebrated his first step into Washington when getting off the plane
how he was going to a state that he's never been to before and
getting to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time (the largest ocean he would tell you)
how even when they had to wait in Lewiston for the plane to be fixed Cody was excited because they had studied it in school and he knew that Lewiston was the lowest place in Idaho (758 feet above sea level)
how he met new friends waiting in line for BrickCon
how he got to be surrounded by Lego enthusiasts just like himself
how he got to visit the Seattle Space Needle, Pikes Place Market and the Seattle Aquarium
how he got to meet with one of the head guys of Lego Universe to see how he did his job
how he shopped for his brothers so he could bring them home some surprises
how he loved exploring a new city

sweet, sweet family
I love my family and I love pictures
My family doesn't love pictures but they do love me.
A few weeks ago my friend Krista took our family pictures
it had been two years since our last family picture were taken
I don't even know how that happened
but I know that it didn't bother the boys any.
